Aftermath

With all due respect to those who have been victimized or involved with such abhorrent circumstances as rape, domestic violence or mental abuse...when will we as a society embrace the concept of PREVENTION? I offer my full support to those groups who cousel, offer support for recovery, or those who go after court sys...tems for stronger "punishment." But this is all dealing with AFTERMATH.

It is time to understand the importance of stopping these events prior to needing a counselor, before they need a recovery group, and way before they need the police, courts, ambulance or coroner.

This is an ugly topic to talk about and it is one that will enrage some...but that is the point. Unless emotion sparks motion, ignighting a movement towards women "owning" their circumstances, we will only continue to have movements generated from tragedies which touched our emotions way too late.

Support those who help after...do this always. But prompt prevention now! This is the importance of Women's Self Defense.

The baisc act of doing something physical starts a chain reaction for "pride." Someone who achieves something, i.e. an athlete or someone who loses weight, gains confidence...its primal and survival of the fitest.

"Motion causes emotion..." and even the basic concepts of learning a punch, kick or whatever, has the phemomenal affect on someone to adopt a confident mindset...THAT ALONE may be enough for someone to deal with a circumstance...confidence or lack of can be all the difference when an attacker picks a victim.
